"The Shot Heard Around The World"

The phrase "shot around the world" comes from many historical events from 1775. The colonists had a lot of tension between them and the British government. The colonists in Boston were more affected than the ones on other colonies. In response to the Boston Tea Party, Great Britain had closed down the Boston Harbor. The result was that life in Boston had become very difficult. Due to the tension, British officials sent troops over to Boston to destroy all the stored ammunition they had. They were also sent to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock. In Corcord, they found themselves at the center of the city encountering the town militia. The Redcoats (British) ordered them to disperse so they would not cause damages. But somebody fired, nobody really knows who, whether it was from the British side or the colonists'. This shot was ther shot that proclaimed that a war was most probably going to happen. And with this war that comes later, so do many others around the world. That's why it's called " the shot heard around the world" .

THE BOSTON TEA PARTY

The boycotts worsted the financial trouble from the British East Indian company. So to help the company and encourage the colonists to pay for the taxes. The Parliament passed a law where the companies sell directly to the colonists. sending the prices down for the tea. the colonists protested that the English wanted to trick them to pax the taxes.

One night on December 16, 1773 the Boston patriots took matters into their own hand and they dress up as Indians and boarded 3 boats bringing British Tea, and threw them tea into the harbor, so no one could get or steal tea from the British..
